Having moved back to her home county of Cheshire, Sensei Paula founded the Cheshire Karate Academy in 2022... a special introduction and very warm welcome message from Sensei Paula...
"I love to coach my students, to share my knowledge and skills, and encourage my students to shine! I offer a very warm welcome to all my new academy students... a place where new and lasting friendships begins.
Having introduced my twin sons to Goju-Ryu Karate at the tender age of 5, I watched them develop and grow in confidence and ability really quickly. Under the careful supervision of my Senseis Keith Bishop and Kevin Nason, it was a proud moment to watch my children take part in competitions, gradings and represent the clubs at national events.
I decided early on that I wanted to be a part of the GKI Karate family – to get fitter, gain confidence and make new friends for myself. With this goal in mind, I joined my prior GKI club in Chelmsford in 2007, where my karate journey started. I went on to gain my Black Belt (Shodan), then my 2nd Dan 3 years later and am currently graded 3rd Dan Black Belt in Goju Ryu Karate.
I have had wonderful opportunities to share triumphs with my sons along the way... I was winner of the Ladies Kumite Competition at the GKI national tournament in 2009 and have won several medals in UK Kata and Team Kata too.
I am UK Secretary of the GKI association's Exec Committee and also attend international GKI committee meetings, working hard to shape the future of our association.
Karate has opened up a whole new set of experiences, opportunities and friendships that I would otherwise never have had. I encourage anyone to come along and have a go... you never know where it will take you !"
Sensei Paula trains hard to maintain her skills and pass on the teaching and regularly trains both in the UK and abroad, with the wider GKI Association under Chief Instructor Sensei James Rousseau (9th Dan) and Sensei Len Sim (8th Dan). This is to keep standards of martial arts high, which maintains a high standard within our academy. You can be assured that you or your children will be taught to the highest standard.
